On Thursday, April 16th Barry’s parents, Jim and Mary, and
his aunt Madonna arrived from Iowa. Their flight arrived in Melbourne around 8
in the morning, so Barry left early to pick them up. Hannah and Kiernan had
school, so we were busy cleaning up and getting ready to go for the day.

I found another small scorpion in the bathroom downstairs. I still
killed it (sorry folks-they are fast little buggers) and our good camera was acting up at the time, so I
only captured a blurry cell phone image of it.

Barry arrived with our visitors around lunchtime. Lydia and I were here
at the house to greet them and had prepared some healthy snacks. We decided to
go to Barwon Heads for a light lunch at a restaurant called At The Heads. The
restaurant is right on the water at the mouth of the Barwon River and ocean. It
was a cool and partly sunny day. We did sit outside even though it was a bit
chilly. Most of us had potato soup (with loads of bacon) for lunch. After lunch
we took them up to the Barwon Heads Bluff to enjoy the views.
We made lamb cutlets, potatoes and green beans for dinner and enjoyed
catching up on everything going on back in Iowa!

On Friday, the kids didn’t have school, so we had planned on all of us
heading to Jirrahlinga Koala and Wildlife Sanctuary. Unfortunately, Hannah had
a bit of a stomach bug, so the girls and I stayed home while Barry and Kiernan
took our guests for some adventure. Hannah was feeling much better for the
afternoon and we enjoyed hanging out, playing Tenzi and having fish and chips (from Mavros)
for dinner.
